This collage was made of multiple photos of me when I was 3 years old glued on Bristol Board using Acrylic Gel. This collage referenced the child beauty pageant industry and the hyper-specializing little girls. I used my own image as the central figures; although I never participated in such activities when I wad a little girl. I think the movie “LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE” brought home the fact that this industry often exploits little girls and inspires mother’s to live this dream through their own little girl’s activities. The most graphic example coming to light is the tragic life and death of JonBenet Ramsey, many years ago…..namely, a little girl’s life peculiarly sexualized like that of the main character in the book….Lolita.
